Long live the slam bar...

On the day WTP announces its making a handlebar with an 8.75" rise (grotesque), I am going to pay tribute to one of the greatest BMX products of all time; the Slam bar. Originally produced in GT's US factory when S&M was in its infancy; this bar's high and wide dimensions were perfect for dirt-jumping and racing. Roll on fifteen years and it is still the best bar on the market and the subject of much imitation (Sunday's Tiumph bar being especially notable). As the big bar trend goes into over-load and the Slam will undoubtedly become over-shadowed by bars that no one will actually be able to do tricks on, I pay tribute. I'll be running my chrome OGs until one of us dies; I think the bars will outlive me.
